About

Keli Hemingway, LCSW, C-EMDR, CHt

I’m a mind-body psychotherapist with thirty years of clinical experience, and I use a whole-person wellness approach. I’m also the mother of two children and the grandmother of three. I enjoy staying physically active, being in nature, traveling, experiencing different cultures, spending time with my dog, and spending time with friends and family. I study and practice biohacking as a hobby and a way to achieve optimal mind-body functioning.

I have a deep understanding of how the mind and body works, human behavior, and how to elicit change using proven and effective therapeutic techniques. My primary modalities for mind-body wellness and deep healing include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing (EMDR), Hypnotherapy, Energy Psychology techniques such as the Emotional Freedom Technique, and Body-centered therapies.

I’ve intentionally worked in all possible environments to understand all aspects of human suffering and experience. For decades, I’ve worked in settings such as battered women’s shelters, medical and psychiatric hospitals, prisons, juvenile detention centers, community-based outpatient treatment centers, emergency departments, psychiatric crisis services, and substance abuse/detox centers.

My approach is client-centered, nonjudgmental, and accepting. I present myself as an authentic and genuine person. My communication style is gentle yet direct. I may, at times, share things with you that you aren’t ready to hear or accept, but you will experience immense growth if you remain open to new ideas. New ideas open up new possibilities for how you show up in the world.

I believe you are not a sum of your symptoms.  Your symptoms are merely overdeveloped coping strategies that you created when you were young as a way to adapt, survive, and connect to your caregivers. However, sometimes, our greatest strengths can also get in our way. We strive for a natural, comfortable balance of our strengths, allowing our true selves to shine. We’ll assess your overall strengths, how they help you succeed, and perhaps how they get in the way of your happiness.

I work with empaths and sensitives as well as individuals dealing with the difficulties of relational trauma, developmental trauma, sexual abuse, interpersonal relationships, anxiety, panic, phobias, anger issues, and PTSD. I promote your optimal wellness by providing an environment of empathic responsiveness that fosters safety, understanding, acceptance, and growth.

I know your circumstances are unique, and we’ll work together to choose the proper treatment for your goals.
